Personalised Jewellery: Metal Stamping 

Metal stamping jewellery requires a bit of practice to get right. For instance, you may not know how much force you need to use until you get used to the metal stamping process. We would suggest practising on a variety of metal surfaces so you can experiment with pressure and different hardness before starting your project.

Metal stamping is commonly used to make detailed pendants and drop earrings. However, you could use it to make a variety of creations, such as charms and bracelets.

There are a variety of metal stamp designs, such as letters, numbers, shapes, and zodiac signs.

A large piece of metal sheet can be a great practice surface for metal stamping. This will allow you to learn what pressure to apply to the hammer and how to position your stamps. Once you’ve mastered this, you can transition to stamping on metal blanks.

Put a steel block on top of your workbench, or whichever surface you are using. This will stop you from accidentally damaging the surface.

It is best to hit your stamping blank as firmly as you can. The easiest way to achieve this with a direct hit is to stand directly over your piece.
