Precious metal casting is a manufacturing process that shapes metal into detailed and intricate designs difficult to achieve by hand. The design file is 3D printed in wax, then we use the ‘tree’ casting method where multiple wax models attach to a central stem that is encased in a mould. After melting the wax, molten metal fills all cavities, creating several casts at once. Once cooled, each cast is separated and finished.

Thanks to developments in technology, casting can be used to create detailed pieces including small objects, intricate jewellery designs and larger models.
Casting a jewellery piece involves a number of key steps.
Thanks to our innovative technology the process here at Cooksongold starts with our 3D software. The state of the art software can be used to recreate everything from delicate objects to intricate designs. We also have a design library where you can select from our own array of designs to find the right piece or you can use CAD software to build out a detailed and accurate design.
We then wax print your design, this wax is then used to cast with precious metal. Pieces can be cast in a variety of precious metals including gold and silver and then polished and hallmarked leaving you with a high quality finished piece.
The beauty of precious metal casting is that it can be used to create intricate designs and complex shapes that are often difficult to create by hand. For jewellery makers, precious metal casting means faster, accurate results every time.
