The colours of Dialux polishing compounds
When using Dialux polishing compounds, it's important to choose the correct colour as they are each formulated for specific metals and individual stages in the polishing process.
For pre-polishing, use the yellow Dialux compound for non-ferrous metals and plastics, grey for the polishing of platinum and stainless steel, and orange for hard and ferrous metals.
In the final polishing stage, the Dialux polishing bar in black is suitable for silver, the green is for steel and hard white metals, and similarly, the white polishing compound is for all white metals and plastics. For gold and silver, the red Dialux polish give a high final finish, and the blue is a general finishing compound that is appropriate for the universal polishing of all fine metals.

Start with a coarser, pre-polishing compound and work your way up to a finer finishing compound. Hold the item against the revolving wheel to polish. Don’t apply excessive pressure. A good tip is to always use a more aggressive compound, not more force. Before moving to the next stage, make sure to clean the item and workspace to prevent cross-contamination for when you are next use a polishing compound.
