An incredibly versatile tool, burnishers are used by jewellery makers for a range of techniques such as creating shine or highlighting edges on metal wire. Burnishers are also very popular for engraving as well. If you work with metal clay or keum-boo; our agate burnishers are perfect and unlike steel, they will not damage any gemstones.

Burnishing Techniques

Whether you wish to create contrasting shine and matte finished on your metal, or harden wire and earring hooks – burnishers are the best choice. For engraving purposes, curved burnishers can work over the slips of an engraver to push metal into any scratch to mask errors. Agate burnishers are ideal to work with stones as they don’t damage them, and are often used to close settings.
