Blue Sapphire Stones

Our blue sapphire stones vary in colour from a deep shimmering blue to a light ocean blue. Sapphires represent loyalty, love and tranquillity, which is what makes them such a popular stone for engagement rings. The name for blue sapphire gemstones comes from the Latin “sapphirus” and the Sanskrit “sanipryam” which both mean ‘blue stone’.

Like the ruby, sapphire stones are part of the corundum family of gemstones, made up of aluminium oxides that have crystallised over hundreds of years to form gemstones of varying colours. Some popular locations for blue sapphire include Burma, and Kashmir.
