Fluorite Gemstones

We stock a large range of fluorite cabochon stones ideal for jewellery making. Available in a variety of shapes including oval and round and in various sizes, fluorite stones are a popular option for a range of jewellery designs.

A natural gemstone, fluorite is a mineral form of calcium fluorite and can be found in a wide array of colours. Due to its nature, each fluorite stone can have multiple colours within the same stone as well as banding and striping making each stone as unique as the next.

Unlike most of the loose gemstones we stock, fluorite stones are considered less of a choice for jewellery making due to its soft exterior. Measuring only a 4 on the Mohs hardness, fluorite stones can be easily damaged which is why they are often favoured as the stone of choice for occasional statement designs as opposed to everyday pieces.

We stock fluorite cabochon stones in a range of sizes so you should be able to find what you need, whatever your design, right here.

What is Fluorite

Like most natural stones, no two fluorite stones are the same as natural processes during formation lead to different colours. As with all natural stones, fluorite has a long standing history and was used by people all over the world including ancient Greece, China and Egypt for a number of reasons including protection and enlightenment.

Fluorite gemstones and cabochons vary in colour but most commonly are found in green and purple.

How to care for Fluorite Stones

As one of the more softer gemstones it is advised that care is taken when handling fluorite stones. Warm soapy water is considered the safest way to clean these specific stones as the use of any chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners will only cause damage.

It is advised that fluorite stones are not exposed to prolonged periods of heat and light.
