Our carnelian cabochons have a warm, reddish-orange colour with bands of white and yellow, caused by the presence of iron oxides. Carnelian is part of the quartz family and has a hardness of 7 on the Moh’s scale.

Carnelian stones were carried around by ancient Egyptians. It was believed that carnelian crystal had an invigorating power that brought about renewed energy. It was said to also cool one’s blood temperature and create calm within.
