Prices for precious metal products are an estimate only and can vary slightly depending upon the metal price, the actual weight and the cutting tolerances which we are able to achieve.

Barrelbrite is a burnishing powder, used with steel shot in a barrel tumbling machine to deburr or pre- polish precious & base metals. It acts as a lubricant between the work components & the tumbling medium. It also helps to keep the tumbling medium in good condition. Mix 20gms of powder per litre. Please note due to the hazardous nature of this product, we will despatch via courier. Please ensure all pieces are thoroughly cleaned using an Ultrasonic Cleaner before Barrelling. Any traces of dirt will contaminate the Shot and Barrelling Compound. Barrelbrite is a 100% organic product that may show some signs of yellowing due to oxidation of the top surface. This will not change the effective operation of the product. It is better to store the product in a sealed poly container as this restricts the amount of water vapour and oxygen in the air from causing discolouration. Using this method the product will last for years.

I have taken delivery of a batch of Barrel Brite from Cookson and I am extremely disappointed with the results I am getting. I have cleaned barrel and stainless steel shot thoroughly, tried using less product, more product, barrelling for long periods - all to no avail. My silver pieces are emerging dull and it is very unsatisfactory .

Cooksongold replies: Dear Mrs Packer, Thank you for your review, your feedback is really important to us. I am sorry to hear of the experience you have had with the Barrelbrite Plus. I will pass your comments on to our Supplier. Kind Regards, Emma

Essential tool for the job.

Some people refer to using dish soap in the tumbler. That's probably OK if you have stainless steel shot. But even so, your not getting the full potential of your tumbler.Barrelbrite provides several important functions-Firstly it acts as a lubricant allowing the shot to run smoothly over the piece and helps to keep everything moving. The soap in it provides the detergent, removing grease and oil and helping to clean the piece and the shot. Vital if the jewellery has traces of polish on it.Lastly, and this is important. It prevents steel shot from rusting. I never dry my shot I just change the water when dirty and add a teaspoon of Barrelbrite 3lb tumbler. Just run it for a few minutes to mix and I can leave the shot wet for weeks and it wont rust at all, ready to go. I've had the same steel shot for 15 years - always kept wet !. So this yellow powder really does a lot more than a drop or dish soap ever could. If you want the results then get the right tools. Lasts for ages, a little goes along way.

Works well, use sparingly

I use this with 1 kg of stainless steel shot and approx 400g of jewellery.I found that 1 tablespoon was a little too much, I now use 1-2 tea spoons.Once barrelling is complete rinses clean away with no residue.
