Peridot can be recognised by its natural radiant yellow/green colour which does not change colour even under artificial light. Some inclusions may be present due to the nature of the stone. The vibrancy of the stone makes it a popular choice for making drop earrings and pendants. Measuring 6.5 on the Moh’s scale, it is a durable stone, however care should still be taken when setting.

Peridot is a vibrant rich green with hints of gold. The only variation is in the intensity of the stone’s colour, which depends on the amount of iron present within it, this can bring about yellow-green, or brown green peridot stones. The peridot name is derived from the Greek word for gold stone, “olivine”, because it is the gemstone form of the mineral olivine. Peridot is seen as a gift from mother nature to celebrate the creation of a new world. National leaders who wore peridot jewellery were seen to be gentle, fair and wise. We currently stock peridot stones in a variety of shapes including cabochon, octagonal, round, and oval shapes - perfect for pendants. We also stock pear, and square shaped peridot stones which are great for making memorable earring and necklace designs. Our peridot stones range from 2mm to 6mm in size.
