The tiger’s eye effect is created when quartz dissolves the mineral crocidolite in the gemstone, leaving the quartz with a fibrous structure. The tiger’s eye gemstone exhibits a beautiful chatoyant effect which characterises its silky lustre. The gemstone usually has an intense thin band of reflected light across the central line of the mineral that gleams brightly when the stone has been cut and polished. With its deep black lines, and rippled waves of gold and reddish brown, this is a truly unique gemstone. It is known as a powerful stone with protective powers. In China it is used in feng shui and is seen as the stone for rebalancing the yin and yang. In the west, tiger’s eye jewellery is a popular gift for Gemini’s, making it the perfect gift of protection as it is said to give the ability to clear emotions, gain mental clarity, and clear negativity away. Our tiger’s eye collection is currently available in a cabochon and round shapes, in varying sizes from 4mm to 15mm.
