Add genuine gemstones and sterling silver to your festive collection in these easy to make Christmas tree earrings.  A great starter project if you are new to wirework.

How to make the Christmas trees

Step 1 & 1a:

1.  Cut two lengths of wire approx. 115mm each and make a small loop at one end.

1a.  Add a 4mm gemstone to the wire and make a right angle bend as shown.

Step 2, 2a, 2b and 2c:

2.  Place flat nose pliers on the wire close to the gemstone.

2a. Wrap towards you across the front.

2b. Move the pliers to the wire on the opposite side close to the gemstone and bend across the back and pull down slightly. 

2c. Repeat steps 2a and 2b four times each time moving the pliers out slightly to get a tapered tree shape. 

Step 3 & 3a:

3.  Following the final wrap make a downward bend in the middle of the tree width.

3a. Role a loop as shown.

How to make the gemstone drop

Step 4 & 4a:

4.  Place an 8mm gemstone on a headpin make a bend close to the gemstone and cut off leaving approximately 10mm.

4a. Roll a loop as before.

How to assemble

Step 5:

You now have all the components ready to assemble.

Step 6:

Using flat nose pliers open the loop on the gemstone drop and add it to the bottom loop of the wire Christmas tree now open the small loop at the top of the tree and add the earring wire

Step 7:

Repeat all steps to make another to complete the pair.
