Woe betides anyone who forgets Mother’s Day (which if you don’t already know is March 26th this year). Upset Mum and you could be regretting it for days, weeks or maybe even months if you’ve been really bad! So, to ensure that doesn’t happen why not browse through some of our Mother’s Day inspired gifts? To give you a helping hand you will find some of our top picks below.

9ct Yellow Mum Embossed Locket with 18″/45cm Chain (VPA 2030)

Lockets are ideal for those who prefer a more traditional gift, and this 9ct example with Rhodium embossed floral details will not disappoint. It measures 23.7mm x 16.75mm which is a good size to accommodate photographs or keepsakes, without being too fiddly. It also comes with an 18” curb chain so it is ready to give straight away.

Impressart Mum Stick Figure Design Stamp, 7mm (999 I278)

ImpressArt have brought out a new range of ‘Family’ stamps which would make a lovely focal point to any family themed jewellery for Mum this year. Pictured above is the ‘Mum’ stamp (as always made from precision cut, hardened steel for longevity), but we also now stock ‘Dad’, ‘Baby’ and ‘Daughter’ along with a huge range of other designs, all perfect for a set of personalised charms or pendants which will be certain to put a smile on Mum’s face this year. ImpressArt stamps are suitable to use with most soft metals (gold, silver, copper, brass, pewter and aluminium) as well as a range of other materials, including clays, leather, wood, card and some fabrics.

Diamond, Round, H/si, 25pt/4mm (61DR HH26)

Before you start screaming, yes I realise this is a considered purchase and not for everyone. However, a loose Diamond is a wonderful, thoughtful gift which will last a lifetime and if you are in a position to purchase one, this 25pt beauty will do you proud. It measures 4mm in diameter so is large enough to stand alone as a centrepiece in a pendant or a ring. and it’s quality (SI) will guarantee plenty of attention. Why not design a piece of jewellery for your mum and present her with a sketch, plus a loose gem, to make a really spectacular and original gift idea?

Lost Ocean: An Inky Adventure and Colouring Book By Johanna Basford – 999 A09C

My final suggestion is ideally suited to those mums who are perhaps a little bit stressed and in need of some down time. It comes in the form of ‘Lost Ocean’, which is another beautifully produced colouring book from Johanna Basford who is an award winning commercial artist, largely responsible for fuelling the adult colouring in craze which has swept the nation in recent years. This particular book takes you on an underwater journey where you will encounter mermaids and coral reefs interspersed with pirate treasure and exotic fish, all designed to whisk you away from the day to day to somewhere infinitely more relaxing!

Staedtler Coloured Pencil Set, Box of 12 Colours (997 460L)

Why not complete your colouring book gift by adding a set of coloured pencils, like the ones pictured above? Mum will then have everything she needs to get started. And for any adult colouring book sceptics out there all I would say is don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!

My choices this year are a little more diverse than normal, but I think cater for a range of tastes and budgets and all being well, will result in some appreciative smiles (and brownie points!) this Mother’s Day.

Mothering Sunday is celebrated on 26th March this year, but did you know that it is always celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent?  Why not discover even more about Mother’s Day and Mothering Sunday in our Origins of Mothering Sunday article here.
