They say life’s a beach, and now it can be with this lovely shell earring and pendant set. Perfect for those days when you want to remember sunnier climes!

Step 1:

Moulding.
Press the clay directly into the mould slightly ‘under filling’ the mould. There is no need to use Badger Balm in this type of mould. Press the mould out whilst the clay is still wet and place onto the Teflon.

Step 2:

Smoothing.
Use the clean-up tool to remove excess clay and smooth the edges. Afterwards, leave the piece to dry overnight.

Tip: Using a wet brush can also help to smooth the edges!

Step 3:

Drilling.
Once dry, use sandpaper to further refine the edges and the back of the piece. Use the hand drill to drill a hole prior to firing. Make the hole 10-15% larger than required to allow for shrinkage.

Step 4:

Firing.
Firing using a butane gas torch, wait for the binder to burn off. When the piece starts to glow orange start to time for a minimum of two minutes.
Evenheat Set-Pro kiln: PMC3 Fast Programme (Fire at 700C for 10 minutes).

Step 5:

Finishing up.
Place the fired piece on the rubber block and use a stainless steel brush to polish. To achieve a high shine finish, continue using a burnisher or tumble for several hours to further strengthen the piece and increase the finished quality.

Tip: Use a soft cloth and silver polish to complete your polish.

Step 6:

Pièce de résistance.
Attach the jump rings and earring hooks to the earrings. For the pendant attach a jump ring and the chain.

Save this for later
