It's fantastic stuff, and I'll admit to briefly wondering about having a go (if I ever have the time) - but I confess I can't quite get the reason for using the materials in question.

Well he is a typical nerdish person. But if your hobby becomes totally absorbing, then all your troubles, real or imagined, fall away. It is much more successful than umpteen visits to a therapist. Making jewellery has saved me from depression after retirement, with the added bonus that people actually consent to wear my stuff. Dennis.

see that I get. there is a degree of permanence to it and there is a concept behind it as well which takes it beyond some kind of obsessive compulsion.
