I've used this type of barrel for tumbling silver for the last two years. It's quieter than the plastic type and it can tumble pieces with cz stones without any worries. I find it easy to put together and take apart I do use plastic tweezers to help lever out the ring that seals the inner lid in place, and it really doesn't leak. I would recommend this to anyone. A really worthwhile purchase.

When I bought my Barrel polisher 999 001 it came with this barrel not 999 005. The college I attend has one with 999 005. They have had to replace the lid many times and even get a new barrel because it did not make a good deal and leaked out of the lid. My home barrel is more of a fiddle to open and close but it does not leak.
