Cut length is 100 not 150mm. Otherwise good tough tool.

First off, this shear will NOT cut a 6 inch length as advertised. The actual blade may be just about six inch measured along it’s curve but nearly the first third of it is unusable. The photo shown illustrates the maximum opening of the shear, only about 100mm of the flat plate is actually available to bring the blade down against. So four inches is really the achievable cut length. The other complaint with this product is it’s lack of a square to press sheet against to easily cut at a true 90 degrees. I quickly found an easy solution to this though. There’s a slim crevice between the body of the shear and the bottom cutting plate. If a stanley knife blade is placed into this a square edge can be created. Then I used a really strong 50mm neodymium magnet against this to hold a piece of aluminium tile edge strip to make a perfect square against the blade. This little mod makes it much easier to use and without doing this I found holding little pieces of sheet exactly straight annoyingly fiddly. This is a well made tool for the money and just by being able to cut 9ct bezel strip at half a mm less rather than wasting material by sanding 3mm strip back it should pay for itself pretty quickly! One other tip I would recommend, give it a good blast of WD40 and a thorough wipe down before setting it up. The usual packing grease etc isn’t such a problem, but my one at least was covered in steel machining waste pieces, some big enough to maybe damage the blade never mind the material you’re working on!
