Yes, you can file square or 45 degrees by hand, which I have been doing for 40 years, but this does save time. Should have bought one a long time ago!

Ok, so you look at this item and wonder is it worth spending that much on an item that helps with straight edges The simple answer is yes. You might think its a lot of money on such a small item but I am a firm believer that if you use an item regularly and this item I use a lot then it's worth spending that bit more for something that will stand the test of time. The jig is so simple to use and will take a wide range of thicknesses in both wire and sheet. The two round holes at the bottom of the jig can be used to attach to some wood and fixed by using the winders on the side to make it easier for a vice to hold for sawing. I've never had a bad finish using this jig, it takes less time to get the joins sorted and less waste of metal when filing without, all in all I'd recommend this to anyone and believe its worth every penny.

I bought this mitre jig after watching the video. I had wondered for ages exactly what it did and the video explained it perfectly. How did I ever manage without it! It does exactly what it says on the tin well, in the video anyway!. It produces perfect angles and smooth ends in a flash. No more fiddling about and wasting metal trying to file straight. Quite expensive but you get what you pay for - this is a piece of precision engineering. Just a little on the small side for big hands, perhaps, but all in all, well worth the investment.

This strange little tool helps you to file wire, tube and small strips perfectly flush. Either at 90 degrees or at a 45 degree mitre. There are a range of holes at 45 and a range of holes in the centre at right angles to the surface. There are also two small notches which allow the alignment of small strips for squaring off the ends.When you need an accurate square end e.g. when making a band for a ring, or perhaps a square mount or frame, then this little gadget will prove invaluable. Only reason for 4 stars is the price, but it is accurately made in high carbon steel and will last forever - its almost impossible to scratch. A great gadget, youll wonder how you ever managed without it.
