DIY Rose gold
Hi,
Any one made their own rose gold, any traps I should be aware of
I am assuming my biggest hurdle will be coming up with matching solder

I have made my own rose gold in the past, just follow the "recipe". If you are selling and therefore going for hallmarking, I make my golds a fraction purer than required, standard is a minimal fineness and allows some breathing space. Regarding solder, purchased solder never matches anyway providing you point this out to your client.

Ah yes therein lies the problem I am the client and I am more fussy and critical than any one could imagine, this item (Diamond set ring) will be by far the most expensive item by a long long way that I have ever created and will be a gift
I have more than enough Gold I just need to turn it into rose Gold, no matter how I work it is going to require some soldering and I want this to be as invisible as it can be, as for the recipe do you have any that are proven

Let me know your what standard you are looking at and I can check out my references. Maybe I have a solder recipe. Practice your design in silver and use a contrasting solder..maybe rose gold...so you can test your skills and see how little is actually required.

I have modified the design ( made it more complicated ) and the solder will now be less of a issue, recipe I have for 18 K is 75%Au-20%Cu-4%Ag

Show us when it is finished.
