    Dennis explains the technique in his original post, I just added to the possibility of using the big diamond. This would be a useful book to have which covers everything you need to know about connecting metals with or without heat

    You can't put heat anywhere near turquoise it actually totally burns into pieces.

    Yes Caroline has thought it through when I got stuck, which proves the value of the forum and that two heads are better than one.

    As the square diamond is quite hefty, I would still use thicker tubing and then rivet from inside the ring as now described. It would also need a heavier shank, to be durable.

    Also, the setting of the diamond would have to nest closely in the turquoise by carving a recess for it. Dennis.

    Thanks for everyone’s input. I will solder the diamond setting on the tube, set the diamond. Put tube through turquoise then rivet tube onto the shank.
    Will probably do a progress update when I’m making it
