    Default Lighting for bench.

More help please. I am now working in a small dark room with no natural lighting and no opportunity to change that. I am using a daylight lamp but getting lots of shadowing from piercing saw particularly, made a mistake earlier because of it. I did a search and it seems others are just using LEDs. Do I maybe need a couple one either side will that remove shadows or will a long strip one be better? Just wanted to ask advice before going spending money and finding I have the same problem.

    Thanks very much.

Buy one that you can move or direct where you want it, ideal situation is to have two one fixed as general flood over the bench and one you can direct
if you are on a budget get the directable one as you can add the other one later

Thanks both, I have one that I can move, but doesn't seem to matter where I move it the shadows are in the way, maybe it is not high enough up!

May be mounted too high in some situations you need the light point toward you and onto what you are cutting rather than behind, this way there is nothing to create a shadow

I use one of these, they are superb and the brightness can be altered to suit what you are doing; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Daylight-Co...led+lamps+desk

    Cookson sell them also; https://www.cooksongold.com/Jeweller...rcode-997-1409

You need ambient light as said above and a separate working light, with not much contrast between the two.
My preference is for warm white, or 3000K. Dennis.

I have one of these too, a big spend and I used my prize money last year. It moves about between working areas, the light has a wide range dimmer and high and low intensity. The only problem with led is dab radios don’t work!

Thanks very much everyone, that lamp does sound amazing, guess I should start saving. I think it may be a combination of not having a good enough lamp and the room lighting not being good enough or matching up, It's little spot lights in there and they aren't great, but can get some brighter ones, hopefully both will help. Thanks again.
