Default Theme Competition December 2018 - Christmas

    Hi everyone,

It's the most wonderful time of the year, so this month we want to see your CHRISTMAS themed designs!

Feel free to enter any piece which represents Christmas to you, whether that be the use of festive colours, symbols or something else - and our favourite will be chosen to win a £100 Cooksongold shopping spree.

Simply submit an image of your piece (along with a brief description if possible) on this thread by midnight, Monday 31st December 2018 to enter.

    Good luck!

    Terms & Conditions:

The closing date for the competition will be at midnight GMT 31.12.18.

The judging will take place on 02.01.19. The following criteria are used to determine the winner: design, the technique used and the overall finish of the piece. The Cooksongold judging panel will make the final decision.

The winner will be announced and notified via the forum by 04.01.19. The winner must redeem their shopping spree (up to the total value of £100) using their own Cooksongold account and within 2 months of receiving their winner information email.

In the case of the winner's shopping spree exceeding the total prize value of £100, the winner is liable to pay for any amount over the value of £100.

The competition is open to all Cooksongold customers aged 18 years and over. Only one entry per person.

Employees of Cooksongold, their agents and families are excluded from the competition together with any person connected to the competition.

To enter the competition, simply comment on the relevant forum thread with a photo of your themed design. No correspondence will be entered into.

All designs submitted must be the original work of the individual submitting them and must not infringe the rights of any other party. Cooksongold reserves the right to contact an entrant for further clarification if necessary.

Cooksongold reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it has reasonable grounds to believe you have breached any of these terms and conditions.

In submitting your design, you give your permission for it to be included in any marketing or any other promotional material connected with this draw, and for Cooksongold to upload your design to Instagram and Pinterest if it is chosen as the winner. Just to get this months competition started, this is a batch of silver Christmas leaves I made from silver sheet and wires, they are Holly, ivy and Mistletoe, a friend asked me to make them as casting patterns for some jobs he had planned.

A playful entry from me this month bringing inspiration from my other crafting hobbies: an homage to that long-standing tradition of cheesy festive earrings worn at the office christmas party, along with tinsel in your hair and your favourite festive jumper!
(Also a vague nod in the direction of some mixed media designs I want to develop using natural felt as an alternative way to incorporate colour into my pieces instead of traditional gems)

These are tiny needlefelted snowmen set on handmade argentium wires.

Here's my five pence. Made today with thick copper wire, fibula/safety pin brooch. About an inch and half in length.
Want to make a few more of these though the hammering is v tiring.

This is the nearest I have to a Christmas bauble
The framework is made from forged oval silver wire. Each link of the chain is hand forged to continue the flow around the neck. Finishing off with a spectacular bezel set flashy Labradorite

Something from over a decade ago that demonstrated a) lots of saw piercing may not be economically viable and b) if you work from wonky clip-art as your master, no-one will believe it isn't your piercing is at fault
    (1.2mm gilding metal)

    Happy Christmas everyone.
