    Default Disc cutter set

I have broken my 3mm cutter for my disc cutter set. Does Anybody know if you can get a replacement and if so where from?
    Thanks

Ooh that shouldn’t happen! Where did you buy it? I would imagine if it wasn’t from a reputable company then getting a replacement isn’t likely unless you can get a machine engineer to make you one

It's years old. I bought it from cookson gold many tears ago. I'll have to do some digging. Thanks for your help

Is it just the punch that is broken or is it the hole unit that has come apart

You could purchase a piece of silver steel from some where like this, https://www.cromwell.co.uk/shop/mate...egoryId=160205
then grind and harden it it really is not that difficult, if you wish to do this I can tell you how to go about it

Another idea would be to purchase a 3 mm HSS drill from the hardware store and cut the plain end off use that, you would need to grind the cutting end square and flat,
if you look at the other punches you will see how they are ground, you could do this with your pendant motor or dremel or what ever you have

Well, first things first: you need to measure the diameter of the broken one with callipers, to get its exact dimensions.

Then, given what is available to you and your engineering skills, you will know whether you can replace it. To work it will have to be a good fit. Dennis
