Default I think i have undercharged for this.....

    Hi everyone,
Most of you know im not a professional, i try my best though.
I have recently been asked by my driving instructor to make a ring for his 35 year anniversary. I was thrilled to be asked to do something so special so i said YES!
I made a trilogy ring with 2 side rubies and a SI1 K colour 3.5mm diamond (Taken from a scrap ring) on a 1.5mm yellow gold band. It took me 3 hours to make, and i charged him £300......Im presuming thats undercharging? if so what would you expect to buy a handmade ring for like this? Thank you

A standard pricing structure would be :
Cost of materials plus Hourly rate X 1.2 to cover consumables etc.
You should then technically add a further 100% to cover retail.
Obviously when you are starting out your hourly rate would be less but nobody should be working for less than minimum wage.
Incidentally whose scrap ring did the diamond come from? yours or theirs?
