    Brilliant I tried hammering the ingot under a piece of wood to avoid dents but that didn’t work even annealing it a few times. I annealed it again and hit it just with a heavy hammer but again there was no movement. I think I’ll persevere using the hammer and see what happens. The alternative is to buy the open mould that Dennis suggested.

    I use a steel block on a log end so it solid to hit against dont worry about marking the metal as the roller will sort te finish out. Also keep annealing the metal

    Really, always feel a bit isolated here. Sheena isn’t that far away either. Porridge doesn’t help. OH started doing major fold form and he uses a very heavy hammer that I would find difficult to wield.
