    As said above, a few judiciously placed dabs of superglue will hold the pieces together for piercing and it does not take much heat to separate them again.
    Whether it is greener to introduce a solvent into the equation, or burn it away once separated, even experts might disagree. Dennis.

    Cheers Dennis, I wasn't sure whether to 'smear' or 'dab'. I'll give dabbing a try first!
