    Default Flush setting course

Recently attended an excellent course for flush setting. My pendant was made from a front piece of 1mm silver sheet which was curved and soldered onto a .5mm flat back plate. The holes were drilled then enlarged with a setting burr and then set with 2mm czs. Sounds easy (ha ha). It took several “ trying for size” and more drilling but eventually despite a few scratches I managed it. My pendant was smooth and a matt finish but we also saw how to reticulate the surface and I was given one to practice on at home. Harder to do because of the rough surface and I made one hole too big but managed to save the day by melting some fine silver into a ball and soldering into the hole. Having a curved front enables you to put the chain through.

Thanks for the encouraging comments. I’ll keep practising as I’m hoping to achieve a scratch free finish.
