Bench guillotines for sheet metal

Hello

Is Ketona a good make of guillotine? I am thinking of going second hand to reduce the price of a bench guillotine (plus postage costs) and also to Reduce Re-use and Recycle.

Do you mean A guillotine or bench shear. A guillotine cuts to a set width with blade moving vertically, a bench shear cuts with a scissor action

A bench shear, sorry as I see a guillotine is rather pricey

That's a question I would ask of a car, but specialist bench shear companies I would take on trust. If buying a used one it is probably more important to question its condition and how thick a sheet it will cut.

Leaving all that aside, your question implies that you are going to shear lots of metal way into the future. For occasional use on thin sheet, a much cheaper stationery guillotine will do, or better still a jewellers saw, which does not pinch or twist the offcuts. Dennis.

I need something to cut uniform rectangles instead of paying for Cookson to cut up little bits silver sheet. Its time saving and really less filing I'm after. Plus I want to buy my silver sheet bigger so I have a stock like the stock room at uni. My old pendant motor is a "Renda" and I broke the fixed chuck do you think I could use another brand and replace the whole flexible shaft drive? thingamajig, whatchamacallit?

I use a bench shear all the time, it won't save you much filing as the edge will be slightly deformed, however it does save a lot of sawing, for straight cuts, you not need a expensive unit for cutting such metals as Sliver and gold etc. just check before you buy blades must be nice and tight no gap between the blades and no chinks in the blades, a company called Warco have them at a reasonable price I have not checked Cooksons
