    Default Silver discoloration after cooling?

Hi all, Me again so sorry!

Can borax cause silver to discolor?

I melted some sheet silver yesterday in my crucible added a pinch of borax and didnt cast the silver because it didnt melt enough and i was in a rush so i let it cool in the crucible and came back later. When i took the silver out the underside which had been in the crucible has a blue enamel looking coating its a very hard shiney blue which is admittedly a very pretty colour but not what i expected?! Is this colour caused by the borax? the crucible has had nothing blue in it. thank you

Yes the flux will cool and become an enamel like coating, colour depends on flux, temperature etc.It doesn`t affect the silver and can be removed in pickle or left and burned off during next melt.
