Default Which Glue for Leather/Copper Bracelets

    Hiya,

I'm after a bit of help for which glue to use to attach 5mm round leather,
    to these copper/metal fittings.

    Kindest Regards
    Johnny

A high quality epoxy such as Araldite or a high quality Cyanoacrylate gel, I prefer Epoxy

If you Google this question, you will get many answers, yet nobody really knows.

If I were doing this would want:
    1. A quick grab so that I don't need to use a clamp, or hold it for long.
    2. A soft set, like the leather itself, not a brittle one.
    3. Water resistance.
    4. An unobtrusive colour.

Superglue Gel seems to fulfil these requirements.
I would also roughen the metal with a burr or a file and try to add some mechanical retention, such as pins or crimps. Dennis.

I use contact cement as well as a physical method, such as a pin through the leather.

I have painful memories of trying to repair laminates which had lifted, because the contact adhesive eventually dries out and no longer sticks.
Perhaps they have improved it now, or at least it outlasts the leather. Dennis.

I've always used contact cement with leatherwork. It's only ever a partial solution (as are most adhesives) - I'd sew, rivet or staple as well and not solely rely on it.
