Default Stop out varnish for black ruthenium plating

I took some things in for plating to Elliot Fitzpatrick last week, marked out with Lacomit as usual. They returned the ring I wanted black ruthenium plated, as they said that Lacomit isn't strong enough to withstand ruthenium plating.

Anyone know what I should be painting something with to get parts plated in black ruthenium. I asked them if it would be the same issue with black rhodium but they don't do rhodium so couldn't tell me.

Google has been so far unhelpful!

    Thanks

Yes, look up something esoteric on Google and you will find no results. Sometimes changing the terminology helps.

For instance you use a resist for etching, but for plating you might just want to protect an area. Google does not recognise that either, but Elliot Fitzpatrick might know or ask another client.

Hoever it might turn out to be a better lastng effect, if you etched your design, then plated, or simply applied a solution and then polished the highlights. Dennis.
