Default Removing solder from silver scrap

    Hello,

I am thinking about melting the scrap silver I have but quite a lot of it has solder on it. What would be the best way to clean it?
    Thank you.

    Kindest regards,

You can't remove it, but if it is hallmarking solder you can have your scrap melted and assayed. Then you do the calculation and add enough fine silver to bring it upto 925.

Given the expense, it will be simpler to sell it and buy new. Dennis.

Hello and thank you so much Dennis.

I have bought all my solder from Cooksonsgold. I have no info about the assaying facility here in Norway though (woes of a self taught silversmith) Will need to find out. Thank you so much once again.

    Kindest regards,
