I think the reference was to fired .22 rim fire not reloadable most shooters just through them out

Oh, I don't know - primed cases keeps things interesting in the crucible.
The only time I've been around primed .22 rimfire has been when the rounds have been dismantled deliberately to render them safe. I'm told that WD40 knackers rimfire primer, but I've not tested it (these ones were cooked off with a cigarette lighter to demonstrate the power of the primer).

Well I thought I'd finish off this thread showing the final product.

Joe very kindly offered to cast my branding iron for me in brass, and between us we modified the CAD file to include a recess for a handle and two screw holes to secure it.

The end result has worked out great, and the photos show the process from start to finish pretty much. Next week I'll be using the branding iron on some finished wooden products which will be comb joints / dovetailed jewellery boxes for items I've made.
