Hello
I have a 9ct gold watch which has grooves cut into the lugs where a metal bracelet has rubbed a groove through from one side to the other. Can I fill it with solder? I have solder paste, strip and wire.
Many thanks for any help.

It would be best to see a picture of the damage, but in general solder will not fill up holes on its own.
Presumably you can remove the part of the case you intend to repair
Then you need to lay on a piece of sheet or flattened wire as neatly as possible, solder it in place rub down and polish.
For solder use strip or wire (Paste can produce a poor result) and borax or auflux/auroflux for the flux. Dennis
Being me, I'd just weld new metal in with the laser. Another of those "everything looks like a nail" moments.
I was lazy yesterday - couldn't be bothered wiring some cufflink arms in place so just tacked them with one good shot prior to soldering...
Thanks Dennis
I found out that I can't fill in with solder but needed to use a sliver of gold and weld that in.
Looks OK !
Thanks for the info.
Des.
