    Maybe the decimals are not showing / were not typed and therefore I would go with 83mm or 8.3 cm

    That would be in keeping with the dimensions in inches.

    Eighty three centimetres just isn't 3.25 inches. Think about it.

    I know what you mean, Caroline, and take no offence, but China can and does produce some very high quality goods. I married one of them 14 years ago.
