    Default Meladori's Projects

    hey guys,

I posted on here once before a few weeks ago asking for help with soldering indoors in my living room. I figured stuff out since then and here are my last two projects.

Does anyone have any tips on how to make sure the bezel cup is perfectly centered when you're soldering? Seems like the heat of the flame tends to push the bezel away from where I set it...

Well done for getting on with it, Meladori.

Things can float about once the solder is liquid, so some thin binding wire gently applied, or an annealed cotter pin opened to fit and slid on would hold things in place.

You could also leave the back plate slightly large and scribe a new edge with dividers, using the bezel as a guide. Then saw it to the new line. Dennis.

thanks Dennis! I had to look up what a cotter pin was... (I'm from the States) ... but ok, I'll see if I can find some binding wire.

The new titanium strips (clamps) are also handy for holding small items.

As China said the titanium strips made into soldering clamps will hold the bezels in place when soldering. Available from Cooksongold;http://www.cooksongold.com/Jewellery...rcode-997-3318

If you make your own bezels without backs to solder directly onto the body of the earring, you might find them less prone to skittering about too - the pre-made cups tend to float on the flux

Very nice. I see those shark tooth bezels are your signature. Are you an angry person? Dennis.
