Let's get the ball rolling with some hand engraved maple leaf charms. By the end of March we may have some of these starting to bud over the pond here in Canada.

In the spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of...

    Cherry blossoms.

A fairly traditional motif for this tsuba; pierced out of 3mm steel sheet (which is a doddle compared with 5mm), with a raised rim and copper inserts (seki gane) which are there to enable it to be mounted to a sword more readily. The patina is a traditional Edo period mix - the last time I tried using this recipe I couldn't get any results out of it; this time - same batch - it seems to be behaving as expected.

lovely Peter - pretty Blossoms - as you know, I love such pierced work within a design

Very nice maple leaves too Goldsmithing.

here is a little bit of fun from me... I was watching the ladybirds wake from their slumber and take a little meander around my trees, which are covered in ivy. Haven't made a spinner ring in a long time, and thought it would be fitting to see a little ladybird.

I have chased in a little channel to fit the wire and protect it a little.

Yes, it really is Spring now and yesterday I managed to get out and photograph the flower earrings which have been blossoming on my workbench over the dark Winter nights. Not quite sure what the flowers are. I had hoped to make a bluebell but that will need more refining.
