So far Ive only used liver of sulphur on small items but Im getting my husband to make a chimney hood which I want an antique finish on and whilst searching I found this which gives all different colour possibilities:

I haven't tried any yet though.

The easiest way to achieve that after polishing, is to flame it selectively with a mini-torch, until you are pleased with the effect.

You can also remove it with pickle and try again. It is quite long lasting without treatment, but destroyed by waxing.
That said, all patinas change with time. Dennis.

Pretty comprehensive list, Sarah. You could have a whale of a time trying all those. Dennis.
