    Default Where to buy Gemstones

    Hey,

I've been looking online for a wholesalers but finding it hard to find one based in Australia. Does anyone know of any? If not Australia then maybe one that has a big selection so I can bulk buy.

I want to work with all sorts of stones but I'm loving Ocean Jasper, Opals (synthetic ones at the moment), turquoise stones and whatever else intrigues me such as fossils.

I'm not sure about Australia, but I often buy from this Thai firm: http://www.gemselect.com They have always had a good service for me, and importantly, every individual stone is photographed and sometimes videoed so you can see exactly what you get. You will have to see how customs and import charges apply, but coming into to Europe they often arrive without extra charges if you go via the slow post option.
    Cheers Matt
EDIT: I just checked and they say this about shipping to oz, which looks good for what you want:
Australia: Although most standard airmail shipments are delivered in 7-14 days, some shipments can take 4-6 weeks due to customs clearance. We are happy to offer replacements or refunds if orders are not received within 30-45 days of shipping. We highly recommend express shipping, which is duty free up to $1000 AUD (please contact us if you have special invoicing requests).

Our valued member China (Bob) is from Australia. Maybe when he sees this he will advise you.

As a beginner, it is a bad bad idea to bulk buy anything you don't need for the immediate project in hand. The whole point of suppliers is that they hold the stock, not you. That goes for tools too, Or you will end up with a pile of unwanted junk and a dent in your bank balance. Dennis.

Hi Yvette, to be honest in my experience Australia is not a good place to buy Gems ( except Opal ) most of the companies just can't be bothered and want ridiculous prices, there are a couple of exceptions one is http://www.gemcuts.com.au: another is http://www.coolamonsapphires.com/ as the name suggests they sell sapphires the above Gemselect are good I have also recently dealt with a company recommended on this forum http://www.wardgemstones.com/stones.html/ very proffesional outfit from what I have seen so far, who are at this moment looking to increase their presence in Aus

    PS welcome to the forum

Your spelling does not engender much confidence though.

    hi Spoony,
If You're interested in diamonds I can advise you to try "Alfa Diamonds" platform. I buy diamonds on this platform.
The prices are good, the transactions are fast. The delivery was about a week to my home. you need to pay TAX but it's dependent your country. For me, it was still cheaper to buy a diamond from the platform instead of buying from a jewelry store.

Hello! Maybe you should resort to overseas shipping. For example, Alibaba ships to Australia. But i think you gotta buy them in bulk so that the shipping fee is not wasted.
