    Default Hello from NYC

Hello! I’m Janice and I’ve been slowly collecting faceted gemstones and cabochons and wanted to learn silversmithing with a focus on Native American silversmithing so I could set my own stones. The only thing I’ve soldered is a circuit board back in engineering school, so I’m pretty sure there will be a learning curve. I sew my own clothes as a hobby and worked as a designer in advertising for a few years before moving on to mobile development. I work out of a really tiny apartment and plan to make awesome jewelry without burning my house down.

Hello Janice, and welcome to the forum. Soldering with soft solder and brazing with hard solder require different techniques, so yes, it is something new to learn. Dennis.

I love Native American silversmithing. Are you setting turquoise?
