Default 9ct yellow solder on 18ct yellow piece

    Hi,

Can I use 9ct yellow solder safely on an 18ct yellow project; the design won't show a colour difference in theory, the piece is in layers, it won't be hallmarked and I really don't want to spend £70 on an 18ct solder panel yet. Any advice very gratefully received, thank you!

Do they do 18ct solder wire? I bought a tiny bit of 9ct solder wire and hammered it flat. Don't know about any technical issues though.

If it is not being hallmarked you can use any solder you wish, that is if solder lines will not be a problem.

Thank you so much for the prompt replies I'll continue now anxiety has abated and also look for 18ct wire solder which will be much more cost effective. Thanks!

Its absolutely none of my business but Im intrigued as to why you would use 18ct and not have to hallmarked?
