Default Hab Gold - what is it and can I mix it with gold-filled findings

Hi everyone. I've just noticed something called Hab gold, which contains 4% platinum. It sound ideal to make a pair of cufflinks - I'm assuming more strength from the platinum. Am I correct? Has anyone soldered gold filled cufflink findings to Hab gold? If so, what sort of solder should I use? Thanks in advance.

Gold filled is just gold plated silver or base metal so soldering them to anything would be difficult without damaging the plating. Strength isn't something that comes to mind with cufflinks so I'm sure that gold would be more than sufficient to hold a cuff together, I make them in silver. Just admit I've never heard of hab gold, will have to go and google it

Yes all the standard alloys are fine for cufflinks. If you put the word into the search box above you will see the many conversations on the subject. Dennis.
