Default Cooksons Value Range Rolling Mill

I bought the "Value Range" rolling mill from Cooksons a year ago. Within two months the shaft on one of the rollers sheared off and Cookies sent a replacement roller FOC. It has now happened again and Cookies are mystified as "we have sold hundreds and no one else has had this problem" - I doubt this statement, it would take a superman to shear off a 1" cast steel shaft, and I am convinced it is a fault with mill.
Has anyone else had this problem??
I am very careful hiw I use it and always anneal between reductions, never force the rollers.

That's a sad story, Barry. It should be fit for purpose, so I hope Cookies will deal with it. Dennis

Cookies have just phoned and will be sending replacement rollers out today. Usual excellent service from their sales team - let's hope this is the end of the issue.

It depends on the structural integrity of the component. Material/manufacturing defects could have made shearing the thing off easy for Mickey Mouse, let alone Superman.

Aurarius - my point exactly, if there was no fault then it shouldn't break by muscke power alone. Anyway all fixed now.

I've just got mine out of the box (it's been there over a year)

I think my large cog has been cast defectively. Do you think cooksons will help after all this time?
