Newbie question!

Sorry if this sounds ridiculous!

I'm attempting to create some things as Christmas gifts and have some questions.

1/ Is it weird or not the done thing to have a sterling silver chain and to add non sterling pendants/charms from it such as silver plated on brass?

2/ If so, can anyone recommend where I buy plated loose chains from as I'm having difficulty locating anywhere!

They also sell chains with fasteners.

It is not weird to hang plated or other pendants from it, although plating eventually wears through and in some people can cause a skin reaction. Dennis.
