Having made these simple briolette earrings, I felt compelled to go on with the onyx theme and make a ring and necklace to go with them.
The ring has some clear CZs as well, so as to relieve the doom and gloom.
The tab shaped stones were more of a challenge. From past experience I found that using too much metal for mounts can give a clunky result, so I cut some grooves in the sides and held each tab in place with a backing of rectangular wire and just two claws.
Not long into the test run I realised that three tabs looked just too mean, so I asked for it back and added two more.
Rectangular wire used: 2.8 x 0.8 mm Wire for claws 1.2mm Dennis.
