Hand cut cabs and facetting
From tumbling (stones) things have developed over the past couple of years including cutting (small) slabs, shaping and cabbing - shaping cabochons - and polishing the lot now... facetting
My first facetted stone is a sard that comes from my very first lot of tumble stones. It always had grand ambitions and I always wondered what to do with tumble stones once they've been tumbled. Yes, well now I know about wire wrapping
A new Facetron arrived the other day and, well, its amazing.
Cutting facets on the sard this morning; it has been polished to 1200 but not yet to a really fine degree:

I tried posting a bigger image, but since the files are retrieved and cached locally, there's a filesize limit.
Sard as above.

If you use photobucket (www.photobucket.com) and copy the link after you have uploaded the picture that says direct
then untick (not like the picture it has to not be ticked ) the box that says @remove file remotely' (or something like that !) I circled it ,when you click the photo icon on the forum
the forum will allow you to finally post big pictures !

Thanks for sharing, I always wondered how they worked!
Love the Variscite!

They look super! I would love to be able to make my own cabs. How long did it take you to complete a stone?
If I wanted to learn (probably cabbing rather than faceting) can you recomend a learning resource?
