I've just finished making this patinated copper and silver bat chain - especially for my first themed competition!

Thanks Susieq - though after piercing out all those bats, I wouldn't be sorry if I never (ever) saw another... (and you can take the 'saw' either way!).

This is a Halloween gift I made for an author friend who ran a website on momento mori, Victorian post-mortem photography and other marvellously morbid things. It has:
Her handwriting etched into the base of the bezel cup - it's a section from revelations about the Four Horsemen of the apocalypse.
Mane hair from a 'pale horse' (As in Death's mount). Appropriately enough it is from the lady's horse, again, appropriately called Boo.
The skull I drew and etched and set so it would emerge from the resin. There is also a piece of uncut apatite. Apatite is a phosphate mineral and Hydroxyapatite is a main constituent of bone (to reinforce the skeleton theme). It also (Apatite) is said to aid creativity (handy for an author).
