Does it really react to onions Dennis?
My wedding ring is 18ct and Ive never noticed anything after the coating wore off- it was rhodium plated as most commercial ones are which I think is really daft and am surprised people don't complain when that wears off as they aren't made aware of it on purchase ( I actually prefer mine now but its quite a change).
Aurarius, Im in Portugal and she's in the UK so that wouldn't really be practical, I think I will suggest she get a cloth and try cleaning it herself.

Yes, but if she likes a silvery colour she will be disappointed with the greyness of 18ct white.
I personally hate it, because for me it negates the whole purpose of having a precious metal, when stainless steel would do.
I understand there is a brighter one. Can anyone source it? Dennis.

I've always found high-palladium 18ct whites to be nice and bright.
