OK deep breath, this is "Tinsel on the Tree" but I'm really not sure about it, especially after seeing all the other entries.
Firstly, it's just simple wirework - no clever techniques. Secondly, despite what was in my head, now I've made it, it doesn't look in the least bit Christmassy! Thirdly, I've just found out today that I've broken a cardinal rule of design by using even numbers and not odd.
On the plus side, I showed it to Richard and asked if it reminded him of anything Christmassy..........and the first thing he said was TINSEL! Bless him, he got a big kiss for that.........on the lips and everything.
Anyway, here's my rather alternative Christmas pendant.

Dressing the tree was always a big thing when we were kids. Always a real one, and we'd do it on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks before Christmas. Even at a young age we were allowed a little sherry while we worked, which probably helped. It was so exciting getting the decorations out of the attic and rummaging through them, discovering old favourites. I always put the angel on the top. She was a pretty little thing with legs and a full white skirt. It was obscene what we did to her! My brother doesn't have an artistic bone in his body and would put baubles in the "wrong" place. Of course, I'd have to rearrange them so it ended up being mostly my work. I did love getting it just right. What an annoying little prig I was.
Even now I find the smell of a Christmas tree so evocative - it makes me feel all cosy and safe.

    Right, I'm off downstairs now.

Lesley - she is beautiful. And she is a she - the spirit of a a dainty, ethereal christmas fairy is in there, I swear.
