Polishing chain

Good morning all,
I have another question.
Has anyone any advice for stopping silver chain tangling whilst in the barrel polisher please?

It becomes complicated if there is more than one chain, but for a single one, I do it up and tie it to itself in two or three places with nylon thread, so that remains double and has a smaller circle. Dennis.

Some people use a big safety pin, thread the links of the chain onto the pin, and then set the catch. I suppose it depends on the size of the chain/links though in terms of even the biggest safety pin being large enough.

I always string my chains onto short lengths of wire and twist the ends together to secure - see pic - notice that I've put the wire through the claw part of the lobster clasp which helps prevent bits of shot getting stuck there. I sometimes put 2 or 3 chains onto one wire and sometimes tumble 10 or 12 chains on several wires together at the same time, all sizes and types, and never get any tangling. I used to use nylon fishing line, but my knots would sometimes work loose in the tumbler. It's easier to twist up the wire than tie a reliable knot in springy fishing line.
