    Default Working with silver plate

Hi, I am just starting out and someone gave me some silver plated wire. Problem is I don't know what to do with it. I have been using silver so far and soldering it in the usual way, but I can't solder silver plate. Can some of you experienced people tell me how I join silver plate if I can't solder it? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

    Hi Suzie,

Given you can't solder silver plated wire the only alternatives I know of are wire wrapping, glue or compression (meaning like a crimp or fold over chain ending).

Its a kind but not very useful gift for someone already using silver wire. It is also liable to get mixed up with your authentic stock, so have a safeguard in place.

The best way to use it up would be for trying out designs prior to committing to the real thing. Dennis.
